In Belgium, Plastic, Metal and Drink packaging are considered as PMD waste and is collected separately. Used paper cups are not in this category – hence the sticker. However, when a smoothie is served in a paper drink cup closed by a plastic lid, few people (at the airport, carrying their luggage and having no free hand) will take the effort to remove the paper straw, unlock the cover and separate them. Surely, we can do better, can’t we?
Besides, I don’t think the staff will start sorting the waste, so where does the waste bag end up?
